When programming the sky lobby for the Grey Hotel there was the perfect 2nd floor corner space at South LaSalle, and West Monroe situated in vintage columns and plaster ceilings the specialty cocktail was born. In redeveloping the historic office building several law firms vacated and left behind countless law books becoming the inspiration for the library bar in Vol 39.
